A girl from Newar community during Bel Bibaha (marriage to wood apple). The ritual is performed before the onset of menstruation when the girl is at the age of 5, 7 or 9to protect the girls from the stigma of widowhood. The most important reason for marrying the girl with the Bel fruit is that once she is married to the Lord Kumar, (son of Lord Shiva who symbolizes eternal bachelor), she will remain pure and chaste and she would not be considered a widow even after the death of her real husband.
